STEMHub Foundation founder, Dr. Adeola Olubamiji has been announced as a winner of the annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award of 2020. The award acknowledges Dr. Olubamiji’s inspiring and exceptional achievements as a Canadian immigrant.
Commenting on her win, Dr. Olubamiji says “To be recognized by a country that I now call home is one of the biggest honors I have ever had in my entire life.” My favorite part of being a Canadian is the ability to volunteer and I have embraced that with my whole heart”.
The RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award which is in its 12th year, celebrates the contributions of immigrants to Canada. The program is proudly supported by title sponsor Royal Bank of Canada.
In honor of the RBC Top 25 winners, RBC has donated $50,000 to Windmill Microlending, a charity that helps internationally trained newcomers pay for the Canadian credentials they need.
The donation will support re-accreditation of 50 internationally trained immigrants in the healthcare profession who are helping on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19.
Hundreds of nominations were received, from which 75 finalists were shortlisted by a diverse judging panel of past winners. The 25 winners were chosen based on a combination of nationwide online voting and judge’s scores.
Thank you to RBC, and everyone who nominated and voted Dr. Olubamiji in this year’s awards!
